Externally, electric transporter 508 looks remarkably similar to the Model 506. Under the hood, however, there is a different engine and brake technology that allows loads up to 800 kg. The reliable 1.4 kW three-phase motor is ideally suited to the vehicle.
The "E-Boy®" allows, in conjunction with a piggyback establishment*, a very special form of transport, an invention of PEFRA, the "piggyback system". A special trailer can be suspended on the loading area of the 508 and locked with a piggyback towing device with the 508. This option combines the advantages of platform trucks, transporters and tractors with trailers: The exchange of the loads to be transported is done more economically than normal trailers. Instead of loading and unloading the loads individually, the piggyback trailer is simply exchanged, whereby the transport times for the logistics by means this transport vehicle can be significantly reduced in total. Secondly, the maneuverability and agility of the entire train is not thereby limited.
The electric transporter 508 and its technical predecessors "E-Boy 509" are in industry, logistics and trade is in use thousand fold. Previously, it was sometimes referred to as e-cart. Often copied by competitors, it is still the market leader in its class.
Because of its stability, reliability and versatility, the E-Boy is primarily used in the automotive, commercial vehicle industry, warehouses, airports, workshops, factories, and in hospitals.
